Forman's GM

Forman's GM
In a move that had been expected since the All-Star break, the Bulls on Wednesday announced the promotion of Gar Forman to general manager.

The team scheduled a news conference for this morning to explain the new structure of the front office.

John Paxson will remain with the organization and retain his title of executive vice president of Basketball operations, a position he has held since April 2003.

Paxson still will be involved in all Basketball decisions and will have the final say on all major personnel matters.

It has been reported since the All-Star break that Paxson would relinquish some of the day-to-day front-office duties to Forman. This is more a case of Forman being promoted than Paxson taking on a lesser role.

Previously the team's director of player personnel, Forman has been a major player behind the scenes in the organization for the last few years. He handled much of the day-to-day negotiations last summer when the Bulls attempted to re-sign Luol Deng and Ben Gordon.

Forman also took on a larger role around the Bulls this season and went on more road trips.

Hired by Jerry Krause as a scout in 1998, Forman has worked his way up through the organization. He was promoted to director of player personnel in January 2004 and has been the No. 2 person in the front office since then.

Before coming to the Bulls , Forman was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Iowa State from 1994 to '98 under former Bulls coach Tim Floyd.
