Chicago Bulls Roster Report 2009-10-08

Chicago Bulls Roster Report 2009-10-08PLAYER NEWS:

--C Aaron Gray will be sidelined for 6-8 weeks with a stress fracture in his left fibula. The third-year center made it through the first two days of training camp, then began to experience soreness and an MRI exam confirmed the diagnosis. He's expected to be sort of an emergency center, anyway, this season behind Joakim Noah and Brad Miller.

--C Jerome James has played in just four games over the last two seasons, but he's planning on coming back from a torn Achilles tendon and helping the Bulls. When James was acquired from New York in the Larry Hughes trade last February, many expected him to retire. James said he's motivated to come back to show his teenage children he can still play.

--C Brad Miller has a show on the Sportsman Channel this fall called "Country Boys Outdoors." Miller and co-host Jon Brunson travel to a variety of places and go hunting. Miller said they've been filming trips for about three years.

MEDICAL WATCH: None.

DRAFT PICKS:

James Johnson, 6-8, F, Wake Forest (first round) -- He doesn't really fill a need, but the Bulls like his talent. An accomplished kickboxer, Johnson didn't get serious about basketball until eighth grade and showed a variety of skills during two seasons at Wake Forest.

Taj Gibson, 6-10, F, USC (first round) -- Not a great athlete, but Gibson measured 6-feet-10 with an impressive 7-4 wingspan at the NBA Pre-Draft Combine. Bulls scouts were impressed by his commitment to defense in college.
