Chicago Bulls Roster Report 2008-12-31

Chicago Bulls Roster Report 2008-12-31
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Derrick Rose, Shooting guard Ben Gordon, Small forward Thabo Sefolosha, Power forward Tyrus Thomas, Center Joakim Noah. Bench -- Guard Larry Hughes, Guard Kirk Hinrich, Guard Lindsey Hunter, Forward Luol Deng, Forward Drew Gooden, Forward Andres Nocioni, Forward Michael Ruffin, Forward Cedric Simmons, Center Aaron Gray.

PLAYER NOTES:

--G Derrick Rose piled up a career-best 13 assists in Monday's win over New Jersey and contributed 21 points. After a 3-for-14 shooting night at Miami last Friday, Rose has been determined to get his shot right and knocked down 21 of 34 attempts in the last two games.

--G Ben Gordon is locked in from long range. In the last three games, all on the road, he's buried 14 of 22 shots from three-point range. He scored a team-high 24 points against the Nets on Monday after hitting for 33 at Atlanta two days earlier.

--F Thabo Sefolosha's second start in place of the injured Luol Deng didn't go so well. He went scoreless with one rebound and no assists in 20 minutes against New Jersey on Monday. He missed all four of his shots.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--F Luol Deng (ankle) expects to be out at least a week after turning his ankle in the third quarter of Friday's loss to Miami. He jumped to block a shot and landed awkwardly on his left foot.

--F Drew Gooden (ankle) left the Dec. 19 game against Boston midway through the first quarter after twisting his ankle while jumping for a rebound. There is a chance he may be back later this week, but most likely not for Wednesday's home game against Orlando.

--G Kirk Hinrich (torn ulnar collateral ligament in right thumb) had surgery Nov. 11 and is expected to be sidelined until mid-February. Hinrich hurt the thumb while trying to swipe the ball out of Amare Stoudemire's grasp in a win over Phoenix on Nov. 7.

--F Michael Ruffin (sprained left ankle) has been sidelined since the second day of training camp. After being released and re-signed, he has been inactive for every game in the regular season. He returned to practice on Dec. 10.
