Chicago Bulls Roster Report 2008-10-10

Chicago Bulls Roster Report 2008-10-10
DRAFT PICKS:

Derrick Rose, G, 6-3, Memphis -- The Bulls have promised to bring Rose along slowly, but they are counting on him to eventually change their style of play, with an emphasis on moving fast and sharing the ball.

Omer Asik, C, 7-0, Turkey -- He's expected to remain overseas for a few years while the Bulls retain his rights, but Asik is regarded as one of the top big man prospects in Europe. The 21-year-old has a solid frame and is fairly athletic.

PLAYER NOTES:

--Forward Michael Ruffin began his second stint with the Bulls on Sept. 29. The 6-foot-8 power forward was a second-round pick of the Bulls in 1999, the same year they drafted Elton Brand and Ron Artest. Released after spending two years in Chicago, Ruffin has since played for Philadelphia, Utah, Washington and Milwaukee.

--The Bulls filled out their training camp roster with three additions: 6-6 forward Roger Powell, 6-9 forward Elton Brown and 6-2 guard Darius Washington.

--Center Aaron Gray claimed to have lost 25 pounds over the summer by improving his diet. Unfortunately, on the second day of practice, Gray went down with a sprained left ankle.
