Chicago Bulls Notes, Quotes 2009-11-08

Chicago Bulls Notes, Quotes 2009-11-08--F Tyrus Thomas had a week to forget, and it ended with surgery to repair a broken left arm. The problems started when Thomas expressed some frustration after not playing in the fourth quarter of a loss at Miami on Sunday. When he came down with the flu and missed a game with Milwaukee two days later, many people probably assumed it was a form of protest. But Thomas really was sick and stayed home for two days. When he felt better on Thursday, he took a commercial flight to Cleveland and played 12 minutes in a win over the Cavs. The very next day, he broke his arm in a freak accident. He was doing a pull-up during a routine weightlifting session at the Berto Center, and the radius in his left forearm snapped. He's expected to be out four to six weeks.

--Take away one miserable defensive effort at Boston and the Bulls are giving up just 87.2 points per game this season. That's a big change from a year ago, when they allowed an average of 102.5 points. "We play hard, that's all I can tell you," guard Derrick Rose said. "Everybody's trusting each other now. That's the biggest thing on defense is trusting one another. Without trust on defense, there's no point in being out there. We're believing in one another and holding each other accountable for everything on the court. Our chemistry on offense is really not there yet, but you have time for that. The biggest thing is defending."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I know I'm not going to score 21 points every night. I want to stay consistent with my rebounding and my defensive effort. I feel like offensively, I'm just going to try to clean up the glass." -- C Joakim Noah, after piling up 21 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks against Charlotte on Saturday.
