Chicago Bulls Notes, Quotes 2009-10-08

Chicago Bulls Notes, Quotes 2009-10-08--No one was looking forward to the Bulls' preseason trip to London more than forward Luol Deng. Though he hasn't lived there very long, Deng considers London his hometown. He was born in Sudan, but his family escaped a civil war and lived in Egypt for a short time. Deng and his family were granted asylum and moved to London in 1993. Deng left to attend high school in the United States a few years later, but his family remains in Britain.

Before leaving to play an Oct. 6 preseason game against Utah at London's O2 Arena, Deng said he wished there was enough time to have his mother cook dinner for his teammates and take everyone to an Arsenal-Blackburn soccer game. Asked what sights he recommends, Deng replied, "Just going downtown, Piccadilly Circus, going to where Niketown is, moving around a little bit, maybe seeing Big Ben, the London Eye. It's just great sightseeing. Things that you'll remember for the rest of your life."

--When the playoffs ended with a seven-game loss to Boston last spring, center Joakim Noah vowed to have less fun traveling the world during the offseason compared to the previous year. Noah admitted he did have a good time this summer but stayed mostly in the U.S. and tried to always work hard wherever he was.

"My highlight of Chicago this summer was definitely Lollapalooza," Noah said, referring to the music festival held in Chicago's Grant Park. "I would definitely go back next year. I traveled a lot, but I really tried to stick to a routine. One of my best friends is a trainer, so I always kept him with me. Overall, I feel it was a good summer for me as far as working on my game and getting stronger."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "That (free agency next summer) is not our focus. We like this team. Our focus is on this team and we're looking forward to a good season ahead. It's our opinion we have the talent to compete." -- General manager Gar Forman on media day, trying to put off talk about which players the Bulls might be able to sign next summer.
