
--Derrick Rose was selected to a 10-player team of young stars that was to scrimmage against the American Olympic team in Las Vegas before it headed to Beijing.
--Rose had seven assists and three steals before succumbing to knee pain early in a summer-league game against the Pacers. --The Bulls went 2-3 in Florida, beating Indiana and Orlando, and losing to the Miami, New Jersey and Oklahoma City.
--Watching their lottery pick on the sidelines was nothing new to the Bulls. Last year's top pick, Joakim Noah, was forced to sit out summer-league play last year because of a rotator-cuff injury.
--JamesOn Curry, who is expected to take a shot at making the Bulls roster in training camp, has been informed by the NBA he will have to sit out opening night as punishment for having pled guilty to resisting an officer and public urination in Idaho.
--The Bulls have announced they will "host" the Jazz in a preseason game Oct. 17 at the University of Illinois in Champaign. What's significant about that? It'll be Deron Williams' first game on campus since being drafted by the Jazz after his junior season with the Illini in 2005.
