Chicago Bulls Getting Inside 2009-04-01
The Bulls experienced different kinds of heartbreak during a two-game trip to Toronto and Indiana. Against the Raptors, they erased an 18-point deficit in the fourth quarter and lost in overtime. Two days later, they couldn't hold a late lead and fell to the Pacers.

So the battle for a playoff spot is closer than it needs to be and Charlotte is now breathing down the Bulls' neck for eighth place in the East.

But the Bulls should still be in good shape to qualify for the postseason if they can just take care of business at home. Five of their final six games are at the United Center and they have three days of rest before getting back on the floor against New Jersey on Saturday.

They could use some time off for forward John Salmons to recover from a groin strain, while guard Derrick Rose is still bothered by a sore right wrist.

In contrast, the Bobcats play six of their final eight games on the road and seventh-place Detroit has five of eight away from home. The Bulls have one game left against each team. Charlotte visits the United Center for the only time this season April 13 and the Bulls play in Detroit two days later. The Bobcats already clinched the season series against the Bulls with two home wins.

The Bulls are 2-1 against the Nets this season, winning at home 113-104 on Dec. 13. New Jersey had lost five in a row before hosting the Pistons on Wednesday.

PACERS 107, BULLS 105: The Bulls put together an impressive effort while forward John Salmons sat out with a groin injury, but they couldn't hold a late seven-point lead. The Bulls led by as many as eight points in the fourth quarter and were up 103-96 with 3:46 left on Tyrus Thomas' lob dunk from Brad Miller. But they couldn't score for the next three minutes and the Pacers went ahead 105-103 on a three-pointer by Danny Granger with 42 seconds left. The Bulls quickly tied the score on a jumper by Ben Gordon, but they couldn't corral a defensive rebound on the other end, and with the extra possession, Pacers guard T.J. Ford hit a tough fade-away with 3.9 seconds left for the winner. Rose led the Bulls with 24 points, while Granger scored 31 for Indiana.
