Chicago Bulls Getting Inside 2009-11-28

Chicago Bulls Getting Inside 2009-11-28The Bulls figured their West Coast trip would be tough, especially considering they had to face four straight playoff teams from last season.

Well, that rugged four-game stretch turned out even worse than anticipated. A non-competitive loss in Utah on Thursday gave the Bulls four straight defeats by at least 15 points. Against the Lakers and Jazz, they were never competitive in the second half. Against Portland and Denver, the Bulls were close late in the third quarter, then fell apart completely in the fourth.

The Bulls are playing like a shorthanded team. They are getting pounded inside and receiving few contributions off the bench. Guard Kirk Hinrich missed the Utah game because of a sprained left thumb. The team is hoping he'll return soon.

They could also use help from Tyrus Thomas, who might be a little more than a week away from returning from a broken left arm.

Flying back home after losing in Utah had to come as a great relief. The Bulls were on the road for 10 days, their longest trek during the annual November circus trip since 1995.

There is still one more stop, though, before the road trip officially ends. They'll face the resurgent Bucks on Monday in Milwaukee.

The Bulls beat the Bucks 83-81 on Nov. 3 at the United Center but had to rally from 18 points down in the third quarter to pull out the win. Rookie sensation Brandon Jennings scored 25 points in that first game, and shooting guard Michael Redd is back on the court after missing the early meeting with an injury.

JAZZ 105, BULLS 86: Once again, the Bulls didn't deliver much of an effort during their Western Conference road trip. They fell behind by 17 points midway through the second quarter and never recovered Thursday at Utah. The Bulls lost by at least 15 points for the fourth straight game. Jazz power forward Carlos Boozer scored 28 points and hit 12 of 14 shots, while point guard Deron Williams knocked down 9 of 11 attempts for 21 points. Forward Luol Deng (26 points) was one of the few Bulls who showed up ready to play. Utah shot 60.8 percent from the field as a team.
