Bulls feel a buzz
Larry Hughes hit a 22-foot jumper as time expired to give the Bulls a 101-100 victory over Utah on Monday night, handing the short-handed Jazz its first home loss of the season.

The pulsating victory lifted the Bulls to 2-3 on their West Coast trip.

On the final play, the ball bounced out to Hughes after Derrick Rose missed inside with Utah leading 100-99. Hughes then got off the winning shot as the buzzer sounded and the Jazz players stood stunned on the floor, looking to see if it counted. The play was reviewed and the shot stood to give the Bulls their second road win of the season.

Rose finished with 25 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter and nine assists. Drew Gooden added 18 points, Hughes 16 and Ben Gordon 15.

Mehmet Okur had 26 points and nine rebounds for the Jazz, who were without starters Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer. Williams is out with an ankle injury and Boozer with a quad injury.

Although the Bulls built a 53-45 lead at halftime, Utah stormed back with a 30-19 third quarter to surge ahead 75-72.

But the Bulls came to life early in the fourth quarter.

Andres Nocioni gave the Bulls an 89-87 edge with 3:30 to go, but Paul Millsap answered immediately to tie it.

After two Nocioni free throws, Ronnie Brewer's three-pointer made it 92-91. But Rose cut through the Utah defense for a layup to put the Bulls back on top 93-92.

The back-door layup, a signature Jazz play in the John Stockton-Karl Malone days, paid off with 1:24 to go when Andrei Kirilenko laid it in, and Utah led once again 94-93.

The next time down the floor, however, Rose was fouled on a drive and swished both free throws. But Okur took advantage of a size mismatch inside to slam home a dunk as the clock ticked under a minute with Utah ahead 96-95.

Rose made a layup and Okur replied with a 20-foot jumper.

Rose bagged a jumper to make it but C.J. Miles made a layup with 11 seconds left to put the Jazz ahead 100-99 and set up Hughes' heroics.
